Gran Rouge is the wine Alexana fans don't see coming. The winery built its reputation on Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, then crossed into Washington for this one: a single-vineyard blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre from the high-elevation Lonesome Spring Ranch in the Columbia Valley, made in limited quantities. The 2015 gives you Rhone-style spice and crushed stone with a decade of bottle age already done for you. Refined up front, real power underneath.
Dark and red cherry, cracked pepper, crushed rock and plum. Medium-plus body, elegant and refined on the palate, with enough muscle behind it to keep you coming back.
