Crowded House is Catalina Sounds' sister label, started in 2005 and named for the crowded stretch of Marlborough they were joining. Instead of one estate it pulls parcels from grower vineyards in Fairhall, Renwick and Waihopai. Fermented in stainless with selected yeasts to keep the aromatics clean, then left on lees for texture. Vegan, sustainably grown, screwcap, thirteen percent. This is the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc you keep in the fridge door.

Guava, citrus and sweet crushed herbs on the nose, with passionfruit and lime zest behind. The palate is balanced and fresh, white nectarine and a mineral thread carrying to a long, pure finish.

Classic matches for Sauvignon Blanc: Goat cheese, oysters, green salads, anything with fresh herbs.

Catalina Sounds set up in Marlborough in 2005 and sits in the Joval Family Wine stable. Matt Ward makes the wines. Crowded House works entirely from grower parcels scattered across the valley rather than a single estate block.
