The Faiveley family has run its house from Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1825 and is one of the bigger landholders in Mercurey. This white comes from the Cote Chalonnaise, where good Chardonnay still costs sane money. The 2023 vintage was sunny and generous, and the wine is fresh, floral and quietly mineral. White Burgundy for a Tuesday that tastes like a weekend, and it still undercuts village Meursault by a wide margin.

Delicate florals with white-fleshed fruit and a touch of minerality. Lively, precise attack, real freshness, pear and lemon through the finish. Elegant and persistent.

Classic matches for Chardonnay: Roast chicken, lobster or crab with butter, corn dishes, soft creamy cheeses.

Faiveley is a seventh-generation family house founded in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825, among Burgundy's largest vineyard owners, with substantial domaine holdings in Mercurey. The Mercurey Blanc grows on clay-limestone slopes in the Cote Chalonnaise.
