Scribe Riesling 2024 750ml
$58.00
Scribe is the Mariani brothers' estate outside the town of Sonoma, run by fourth-generation California farmers who made Riesling a house signature when almost nobody else in the county would touch it. The 2024 Estate Riesling is bone dry at zero grams of residual sugar, wild-yeast fermented long and cold in concrete, no oak, no malolactic. What's left is pure nerve: flowers, stone fruit and stone itself. Sonoma Riesling is rare. Scribe argues it shouldn't be.
Deeply perfumed: citrus blossom, white peach and stone-fruit skin. Bone dry with vibrant acidity and a cool mineral finish. No oak anywhere near it.
Thai takeout, oysters on the half shell, schnitzel, a properly spicy fried chicken sandwich.
Brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani farm Scribe's Sonoma estate with deliberate restraint: slowing the ripening curve, picking when sugar and acid balance, and running long, cold, wild-yeast fermentations in concrete.
