Venica Sauvignon Blanc Ronco d Cero 2023 750ml

Venica & Venica farms in Dolegna del Collio, hard against the Slovenian border in Friuli, where Sauvignon hits a register California rarely touches. Ronco del Cerò is their Collio Sauvignon from vineyards with north, south, and southeast exposures. The warm south-facing slopes give yellow peach and melon, the cool sites give elderflower, and the blend of exposures is the whole architecture of the wine. Fresh, saline, long. One of Italy's benchmark Sauvignons.

Intense straw yellow. Yellow peach, melon, elderflower. Fresh palate with a savory mineral vein, rich salinity, great balance, long aromatic persistence.

The producer says grilled prawns with lime, fried squash blossoms, baked scallops au gratin. Trust them.

A family estate in Dolegna del Collio, Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The name means hill of the Cerò; different exposures across the site each contribute a distinct piece of the aromatic spectrum.
