Big Table Farm - Willamette Valley - Sunnyside Vineyard - Pinot Noir - 2021

$86.00

Big Table Farm is a winemaker and an artist: Brian Marcy makes the wine, Clare Carver paints every label, and the whole thing runs off a working farm in Gaston, Oregon. Sunnyside is their old-vine bottling, from a vineyard south of Salem planted in 1970 and farmed by its owners Luci and Tom, who have sold the farm fruit since 2011. The 2021 is 250 cases, unfined and unfiltered. A standout vintage after vintage. The rooster on the label is one of Clare's.

Cardamom, sandalwood and dried rose leading into a baked red-fruit jumble. Sophisticated, balanced and quietly confident, with crushed-velvet tannins carrying a graceful finish.

Classic matches for Pinot Noir: Salmon, roast duck, mushroom risotto, a charcuterie board that means business.

Sunnyside Vineyard was planted in 1970, genuinely old vines for the Willamette Valley, largely Wadenswil-clone Pinot Noir. Luci and Tom tend it steps from their front door and even helped crowdfund Big Table Farm's winery build. The partnership goes back to 2011.
