Edgar Torres made his Paso Robles name with Spanish grapes, and El Cabrhone is his wink at the Cab-and-Rhône blends his neighbors love. The 2021 blends 38 percent Cabernet Franc, 28 Cabernet Sauvignon, 18 Grenache and 16 Petite Sirah, sees a touch of whole cluster, then rests 19 months in mostly neutral French oak. Jeb Dunnuck scored it 92. Round, lively and beautifully textured, a steak-night red with a sense of humor.
Red and black fruits, spring flowers, cedary herbs and a chocolate note. Medium to full body, lively acidity, plush texture, dried cranberry on the finish.

Bodega de Edgar is Edgar Torres's family-run Paso Robles label, built on Spanish varieties like Tempranillo before this Franco-Rhône detour. The winery pours from a westside Paso tasting room.
