Borgogno - Langhe Nebbiolo - 2020

Borgogno is one of Barolo's oldest and most stubborn houses, and we mean that as a compliment: spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks, no selected yeasts, aging only in big Slavonian oak casks, never small barriques. The Langhe Nebbiolo gets the same treatment on a shorter clock, about ten months in cask. It drinks like young Barolo without the wait. Traditionalist Piedmont in a Tuesday-night bottle that will outclass most Saturdays.
Rose, violet, dried cherry, wild herbs and sandalwood. Dry and harmonious, with wild-berry fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a bright, zippy finish.
Tajarin with butter and sage, mushroom risotto, braised short ribs.
