Bravante Trio Red Wine
$81.99
Howell Mountain fruit at valley-floor money. George and Nancy Bravante farm two estate vineyards at around 1,700 feet, produce about 2,000 cases a year, and use nothing but their own grapes. Trio is the blend that names its recipe: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from those mountain vines. Dark, ripe and generous, with the dusty structure the mountain always delivers, and Bravante holds wines back longer than most before release. Ask us which vintage is in stock. Quietly one of the best buys on the shelf.
Blackberry pie, boysenberry jam, dark cherry and baked plum with mocha, espresso and sweet tobacco spice. Balanced and bright, gentle gravelly tannins folded seamlessly into a dark-fruited finish.
Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.
The Stone Ridge Vineyard surrounds the winery at about 1,700 feet on Howell Mountain, with the slightly higher Black Oak Vineyard a mile north off Keyes Road. First vintage 1995; the winery and cave were finished just before the 2009 harvest.
