Campet Pinot Noir 2022 750mli
$23.00
Campet Ste. Marie makes French Pinot Noir from the cool hills around Limoux, in the far southwest of the Languedoc where the Pyrenees start to matter. Limestone and clay soils, big day-night temperature swings, and ocean-cooled morning breezes mark the coolest parcels, locally called the Campet, which are reserved for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The 2022 comes in at 13 percent, supple and quietly serious. This is French Pinot with actual place in it for under twenty-five dollars.
Ripe black plum and blackberry with dried herbs, violet, and Darjeeling tea. Soft, plush texture with a gentle tannic grip that pulls it together. Medium bodied, easy finish.
Roast chicken thighs, mushroom anything, grilled salmon, or a Friday charcuterie board.
Fruit is selected from parcels on steep, rolling limestone-clay hills near Limoux in the Pyrenees foothills. The cooler vineyard zones, known locally as the Campet, benefit from wide diurnal swings and fresh oceanic morning breezes.
