Cancellaia di Riparbella - Pakravan Papi - 2020

Tenuta Pakravan-Papi farms the hills above Riparbella in the lower Cecina Valley, a stretch of the Tuscan Coast with a worldwide name for Cabernet. Cancellaia is the estate flagship: Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, roughly 60/40, from 20-plus-year-old, low-density vines on mineral-rich volcanic and lacustrine soils, aged at least 12 months in barrique and 24 more in bottle before release. Coastal Tuscan Cabernet with Bordeaux freshness and real cellar bones. Past vintages took Decanter gold and a Brussels Grand Gold.

Blackberry, ripe plum and sour cherry with green pepper, mint and balsamic lift. Deep but crunchy palate, lively acidity, balanced tannin, long spicy finish.

Bistecca alla fiorentina, game stews, pasta with meat ragù, aged pecorino.

Family estate of Amineh Pakravan and the Papi family at Ortacavoli, Riparbella, in the hills of Pisa near the coast. Vines at 200 meters on lacustrine clay with pebbly gravel from weathered volcanic rock. Hand harvested; fermentation and malo in steel before barrique aging.
