Cantine Crosio “Canavese” Rosso - 2022
$36.00
Roberto Crosio founded Cantine Crosio in 2000 in the Canavese hills north of Turin. The Canavese Rosso is 75 percent Barbera with 25 percent Merlot, fermented seven days on the skins and raised in steel so the fruit stays loud. The boar on the label stands for the wild country these vines grow in. Cherry in every form, from fresh to jam. Weeknight Piedmont that drinks happy, not serious.
Ruby red. Cherry all the way down: fresh fruit, jam, even fresh-cut cherry wood. Fresh, balanced, dangerously drinkable, with a clean vinous finish. 14 percent alcohol.
Bread, salami, and cheese is the producer's own call. Also agnolotti with roast sauce, pork ribs, grilled sausage.
Roberto Crosio established the winery in 2000 in the hills of Canavese, Piedmont. Fermentation runs seven days on the skins at controlled temperature, then three to four months in steel and a minimum two more in bottle.
