The Carrau family's winemaking roots reach back to 1752, and in 1973 Juan 'Quico' Carrau Pujol chose Cerro Chapeu in Rivera, on Uruguay's Brazilian border, for its continental climate and deep red Batovi sands. This Reserva Pinot Noir comes from mass-selection vines of French origin planted there in 1987, hand harvested, gravity vinified with native vineyard yeasts, and bottled with minimal handling. Vegan, low intervention, and it drinks more Old World than New. Uruguay is not just Tannat.

Cranberry, sour cherry, rose hip, and lemon zest with sage, spice, and minerality. Light to medium body, silky tannins, bright acidity, fresh savory finish.

Bodega Cerro Chapeu is the Carrau family's northern estate in Rivera, picked in 1973 for well-draining red Batovi sandstone. Sustainable farming, hand harvest, native yeasts, gravity-flow winemaking, minimal manipulation at bottling.
