The Roux family has farmed this corner of the Médoc since the 1970s, and La Pirouette is their steady, honest read on the appellation. The 2019 is a Cru Bourgeois blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, aged with care rather than flash. The name comes from the family's love of horses: a pirouette is a dressage move, and the wine has the same discipline: structured, correctly made, no shortcuts. A weeknight Bordeaux that still means something on the table.

Deep garnet with a fine vanilla-oak nose over red currant, plum and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied, with rounded, youthful tannins, crunchy red fruit and a long, clean finish.

Michèle Roux has run this 33-hectare Cru Bourgeois estate for more than 40 years; her son Brice now works alongside her. The family planted the vineyard themselves in the late 1970s and farms it under reasoned, low-intervention pest management.
