Chateau Siaurac is one of the best-known names in Lalande-de-Pomerol, the appellation just across the stream from Pomerol proper, where the plush Right Bank style arrives without the Pomerol invoice. The 2018 is 80% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec from a ripe, generous vintage, and the critics lined up: 91 points from both Galloni and Suckling, 92s from Beck and Castaing. Plummy, mocha-tinged Merlot drinking beautifully right now. Sunday roast wine with a French accent.
Bright and plummy, with mocha, spice and floral notes wrapped around dense, pliant dark fruit. Full-bodied, velvety tannins, ripe blackberry and cherry, succulent and racy through the finish.
Sunday roast beef, steak frites, duck confit, a mushroom-heavy anything.
