Clay Shannon Pinot Noir 2021 750ml
$24.00
Clay Shannon farms high-elevation ranches in Lake County, north of Napa, and this Pinot Noir comes off a single site: Long Valley Ranch, tucked into a fertile valley floor between two 3,000-foot mountain ranges. Clone 777 leads the blend, and the wine spends ten months in French oak, a quarter of it new. Single-vineyard California Pinot at this price is rare air. It drinks like the roast-chicken workhorse it should be: real cherry fruit, no candy.
Garnet in the glass. Fresh plum and cherry pie aromas, then vanilla, dried cherry and sweet tobacco on the palate. Mid-weight body, balanced acidity, soft landing.
Roast chicken, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, a bacon cheeseburger without shame.
Long Valley Ranch sits at the westernmost corner of a five-mile transverse valley in Lake County, between two 3,000-foot ranges. Predominantly clone 777, barrel aged ten months in 25% new French oak. Part of the Shannon Family of Wines portfolio.
