Duckhorn has bottled Napa Valley Merlot since its first vintage in 1979, and this is the house calling card: 85% Merlot with 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and a splash of Cabernet Franc, aged 15 months in 100% French oak, 40% new. Supple, polished, dark red fruit with floral lift. A steakhouse red that still works on a Tuesday night, and the safest famous-name gift bottle in the shop.
Floral notes and dark red berries on the nose. Supple, polished palate with seamless fruit and tannin, extra frame from the Cabernet, long vibrant finish. 14.5% alcohol.
