The Masse family has grown vines in the Cote Chalonnaise since 1595. Sit with that for a second. Over four centuries of Pinot Noir in southern Burgundy. This Bourgogne Rouge comes off the estate's old vines and is raised half in barrel, half in stainless steel, so the fruit stays out front. Plum, cherry, soft tannin, juicy acid. Real red Burgundy at a fair price is getting rare. This is one. Weeknight Burgundy that drinks above its station.

Intense ruby. Plum, cherry, fresh red berries, forest floor, a light earthy streak. Smooth attack, sweet fruit through the middle, soft tannins, juicy acidity, subtle oak framing the finish.
