Same Fidelity label as our Goldschmidt red blend, different act: this is Nick Goldschmidt's Zinfandel from the Railyard Vineyard in Alexander Valley. The site faces east on loam soil in a cool corner of the valley, low-vigor vines that concentrate everything. So you get Zin with actual shape, not jam. Wine Spectator gave an earlier vintage 92 points. Buy the Fidelity blend for steak night and this one for ribs, brisket, and barbecue season.
Deep purple. Wild blackberry, blueberry pie, raspberry, cola, and clove. Full and mouth-filling, spicy bramble and vanilla, cinnamon warmth, long finish.

Railyard is an east-facing, loam-soil vineyard in a cool pocket of Alexander Valley; low vigor and great exposure make it one of Goldschmidt's most intense Zinfandel sources. New Zealand-born Nick Goldschmidt has made wine since 1982.
