Giustini Avoglia Susumaniello 2024
$20.00
Susumaniello is a Puglian red that almost nobody stocks, and this is the easy way in. Tenuta Giustini is a four-generation family operation in San Giorgio Ionico, between the sea at Taranto and the hills of the Itria Valley. Giuseppe Papadopoli bought the first hectares in 1991 and named the place for the district. The Avoglia line is all steel, no oak, young and fresh by design. Chill it slightly.
Ruby red with violet hues. Fragrant red berry fruit, cherry, raspberry and currant. Fruity and velvety on the palate, soft tannins, ripe and clean. Puglia's answer to Beaujolais.
Antipasti spread, roast chicken or pork, mushroom risotto. Serve it with a slight chill and it works all summer.
Vines near Mare Piccolo trained bilateral Guyot on medium-textured fertile soil, hand picked in the second half of September. Destemmed, macerated six to eight days, fermented with selected yeasts at 22 to 24 degrees, then held in stainless.
