The Glunz family has been in the wine trade since 1888, when Louis Glunz opened his merchant shop in Chicago. In 1992 the third and fourth generations planted their own 40 acres in the rolling hills of Paso Robles. The 2022 Cabernet was hand-picked on the morning of September 28, hand-sorted, then aged 22 months in new French and American oak. Clones 4 and 6, small berries, deep color, real structure. It took double gold at the Central Coast Wine Competition.

Earthy nose with a hint of tobacco. Dark cherry and blackberry, oak spice up front, medium tannins with surprising smoothness through the mid-palate. Deep color, structured, warm finish.

Four generations deep, the Glunz family still runs both the 1888 Chicago merchant house and the Paso Robles winery, opened in 1992 on 40 acres east of town. The Cabernet is planted to French clones 4 and 6, chosen for small berries, structure, and color.
