Glunz Family Winery is the California arm of a Chicago wine dynasty. Louis Glunz started selling wine there in 1888; a century later, in 1992, his descendants planted 40 acres in the hills of Paso Robles. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon comes off estate clones 4 and 6, hand-harvested September 28 and hand-sorted, then rested 22 months in new French and American oak. Limited production, double gold at the Central Coast Wine Competition, and a genuine family story in the bottle.

Dark fruit leads, cherry and blackberry with oak evident right away. Earth and tobacco on the nose. Medium tannins, smooth texture, deep color, lingering finish.

The estate sits in Paso Robles wine country east of town, farmed by the third and fourth Glunz generations since 1992. Cabernet clones 4 and 6 were planted for small berries and wines of structure, depth, and color.
