Glunz has been a wine family since 1888, when the House of Glunz opened as Chicago's oldest wine and spirits shop. Brothers Matt and Stephen Glunz took that history west, opening a Paso Robles winery in 2014. This Reserve Zinfandel comes off their own estate vineyard, aged 14 months in all-new American oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, only 170 cases made in 2020. Old-school Chicago wine family, new-school Paso fruit.
Red cherry and vanilla on the nose, dark fruit and raspberry on the palate, with cracked pepper and toast running through the finish. Full-bodied and warm.
Good with burnt ends, a smoked brisket plate, or a pepperoni pizza.
Grown on the Glunz family's own Paso Robles estate vineyard and finished in 100% new American oak barrels for 14 months before bottling unfined and unfiltered, a hands-on, small-lot approach that yielded just 170 cases in 2020.
