Goros comes from the high, hot plains of Alicante in southeastern Spain, where old-vine Monastrell rules. The blend runs 85% Monastrell and 15% Syrah, off 24-to-40-year-old vines in clay-limestone soils, aged six months in used French barriques. James Suckling scored the 2019 a 91. Earthy Monastrell grunt meets ripe Syrah blue fruit in a wine built for the grill. One of the better Spanish red values on our shelf.
Bright ruby-red. Fresh black cherry and red berries with sweet spice, toast and cocoa. Silky texture, lively acidity, long finish.
Lamb chops, grilled chorizo, smoky eggplant, anything that touched charcoal.
Fruit comes from 24-to-40-year-old vines on clay-limestone with a sandy surface layer on Alicante's high plains. Fermented in vat, aged six months in used French barriques. Imported by Skurnik Wines.
