The Hendry family has farmed the same ranch northwest of the town of Napa since 1939: 203 acres of rolling hills, 114 under vine, in the transitional zone between cool Carneros and the warm valley floor. HRW is the estate's everyday label and the Pinot Noir is its quiet star. The 2023 is light on its feet, bright cherry and gentle tannin, closer to Burgundy than to plush California Pinot. Estate Napa Pinot at this price is rare. Roast chicken wine, weeknight or Sunday.
Herbal, floral aromas opening to cherry. Light-bodied palate of candied cherry, cranberry, honey, toffee and toast. Gentle tannins, soft but present acidity, clean finish.
