The 2020 HRW Zinfandel is the friendly side of the ranch: medium-bodied, bright and spicy, more Italian in spirit than the monster Zins California is known for. Fruity and dry with real structure, built for the dinner table rather than the trophy shelf. At thirty-eight dollars it is your weeknight Napa Zin, and there are not many of those left.
Medium ruby. Black cherry, raspberry compote and baking spice, a touch of vanilla and cracked pepper. Bright, spicy, medium-bodied palate with good structure and a tangy, firm finish.
