Immortal Estate - Slope - Cabernet Sauvignon - 2019

$99.99

Immortal Estate is the former Hidden Ridge vineyard, rebranded in 2014 under Tim Martin of Napa's Tusk Estates with winemaker Timothy Milos. The terraced site climbs from 1,100 to 1,700 feet on red volcanic soils on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas, just over the ridge from Spring Mountain, with slopes hitting 55 degrees. The 2019 Slope carries 2% Petit Verdot and pulled 95 points from Jeb Dunnuck. Mountain Cabernet with muscle. Decant it hard now, or give it five years.

Opaque black. Menthol, cassis, toasted cedar and vanilla aromas. Fleshy and very full-bodied, with velvety sweet tannins, plummy fruit, fresh acidity and a long, toasty finish.

Charred porterhouse or short ribs off the smoker. This one wants smoke and marbling.

The estate vineyard rises 1,100 to 1,700 feet on red volcanic soils, terraced into slopes as steep as 55 degrees. Ocean breezes from the west stretch the growing season, holding acidity while tannins ripen fully. The Glass Fire took 30% of the vines in 2020, and no wine was made that year.
