Domaine Jean-Luc Mader sits in Hunawihr, a picture-postcard village between Ribeauville and Riquewihr. Jean-Luc and Anne founded it in 1981. Their son Jerome took over in 2005 and converted every hectare to organic farming, certified in 2007. The Pinot Noir comes off granite at Rosenburg and richer clay over limestone marl at Muhlforst. Everything is picked by hand. Jerome called 2022 a vintage with real depth thanks to low yields. Alsace Pinot at this price is rare.

Deep ruby. Red cherry and raspberry on the nose with a quiet earthy note underneath. Dry and structured on the palate, fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a touch of spice on the clean finish.

Roughly eleven hectares split into thirty-eight parcels across Hunawihr, Ribeauville, Riquewihr and Kientzheim, including Grand Cru holdings in Rosacker and Schlossberg. Certified organic since 2007. All vineyard work by hand, yields kept low. Tom Stevenson listed Mader among the top ten best-value producers in Alsace.
