La Marina is the flagship white from Domaine de Ménard, an estate in Gascony, southwest France, sitting near the pilgrim route to Santiago. Sixty percent Colombard, twenty Sauvignon Blanc, twenty Gros Manseng. The vines grow on an ancient marine site where shells and fossils still turn up in the subsoil. Hence the name. Buy it for summer. This is the house white that never argues with anything.

Orange blossom and honey on the nose. Citrus and mineral notes, tropical fruit and grapefruit on the palate, a plush orange freshness through the middle, crisp and tangy to the finish.

Domaine de Ménard sits close to the Way of Saint James in Gascony. The Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc and Ugni Blanc behind the estate's dry whites are planted in shallow stony soil, over a subsoil full of marine fossils.
