Lampyres Calentu - Grenache - 2022

Domaine des Lampyres is François-Xavier Dauré, former assistant winemaker at Matassa, now making tiny lots from his family's old vines around Espira-de-l'Agly in Roussillon. Calentu is 100% Grenache Noir, organically farmed, hand picked, macerated whole cluster for about eight days on native yeasts, then aged in clay amphora and stainless steel and bottled with minimal sulfur. Crunchy, red-fruited natural Grenache that loves a light chill. Jancis Robinson covers this producer for a reason.

Sun-ripened cherry, raspberry, a little savory funk. Light bodied and crunchy, bright acidity, soft tannin, juicy finish. Serve it cool.

Chill it for charcuterie, merguez off the grill, or a mushroom pizza.

Dauré trained at Matassa, one of Roussillon's defining natural domaines, before going out on his own with old family vines in Espira-de-l'Agly. Organic farming, native fermentations, amphora aging. Imported by Terres Blanches.
