Clos Vougeot is the walled grand cru the Cistercian monks built, and Louis Jadot farms an important, centrally placed parcel inside it. The 2020 is classic Jadot Pinot Noir: restrained new oak, long aging in cask, and the patience to let a serious site speak. Full-bodied and concentrated, with cassis, dark cherry and rose petal already showing. This is the cellar wine of the list. Buy it for a milestone. It will repay twenty to thirty years of waiting.
Mocha, candied cherry and sweet tobacco now; dried flowers, spiced strawberry and sandalwood with age. Full-bodied and concentrated, cassis and dark cherry at the core, chewy tannins that turn silky. Long, earthy finish.
