Mastroberardino Lacryma Christi Rosso - 2023 750ml
$35.00
Lacryma Christi, the tears of Christ, grown on the slopes of Vesuvius itself. Mastroberardino, Campania's historic benchmark house, makes this Rosso from 100 percent Piedirosso rooted in loose volcanic soils of mineral-rich ash and lapilli. Hand harvested in October, fermented in stainless steel, bottled fresh at 12.5 percent. Medium-bodied, smoky, alive, with real Neapolitan swagger. This is the bottle for a proper pizza Margherita, and in Naples that pairing is basically law.
Intense ruby. Cherry, plum, raspberry, violets, Mediterranean herbs, smoky volcanic minerality. Medium body, light refined tannins, bright acidity, clove and black pepper on the finish.
Pizza Margherita first. Then salumi, eggplant parm, anything simmered in tomato sauce.
Vineyards sit below Mount Vesuvius in loose, well-draining soils of mineral-rich volcanic ash and lapilli. Grapes are hand harvested in October, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, and rest a month in bottle before release.
