Matanzas Creek - Sauvignon Blanc - 2022
$28.99
Matanzas Creek was founded in 1977 on a retired dairy farm in Sonoma's Bennett Valley, with Merry Edwards as its first winemaker, and the estate helped put Bennett Valley on the map as its own AVA. This Sauvignon Blanc blends in 2.5% Semillon for texture and comes in bright and juicy: pineapple, kiwi, tarragon and honeydew over a light, acid-driven frame. Wine Enthusiast called it ready for oysters on the half shell, and they're right. A reliable, well-priced Sonoma white for weeknights or a raw bar.
Pineapple, kiwi, tarragon and slate on the nose, with honeydew, white peach and guava underneath. Light-bodied, citrusy and acid-driven with a floral finish.
Wine Enthusiast pegged it for oysters on the half shell, and that's exactly where we'd point you too.
Founded in 1977 on a former dairy farm, Matanzas Creek was an early Bennett Valley pioneer and helped establish it as its own Sonoma County AVA. The estate now farms over 280 acres of Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah, with Marcia Torres Forno as current winemaker.
