Matthiasson - Vermentino - 2022

Steve and Jill Klein Matthiasson make some of Napa's most interesting white wine, and this Vermentino off their Cressida Vineyard in Los Carneros proves they don't need Cabernet to do it. Cool Carneros air keeps the acid ripping while shale soil gives the wine real texture. Dates, figs, papaya, then tarragon and chervil pulling it back toward savory. Not a typical Napa white, and better for it.

Richer fruit, dates, figs, papaya, lifted by herbal tarragon and chervil. Loads of texture from shale soil, ripping acidity, notes of lemon juice, marzipan and chalk.

Built for salty seafood whites: oysters, ceviche, anything briny straight off the boat.

Sourced from the Cressida Vineyard in Los Carneros, where shale soil and Carneros' cool climate push Vermentino toward texture and acid instead of simple fruit.
