Mauro Molino Barolo Bricco Luciani 2020
$100.00
Barolo from one of La Morra's best-loved family cellars. Mauro Molino made his first Barolo in 1982 at Annunziata di La Morra, and today his children Matteo and Martina run the estate with him. Bricco Luciani is 100% Nebbiolo from a south/east-facing hill of calcareous clay, fermented in steel and aged at least 18 months in French oak. The 2020 pulled 95 points from Jeb Dunnuck and 94 from Vinous. La Morra means perfume and silk. This delivers both.
Rose, violet and crushed red berries with spice, cedar and new leather. Mid-weight and elegant, with persistent richness and a long, perfumed finish.
Tajarin with butter and sage, braised rabbit, or anything involving mushrooms and polenta.
The Molino family farms about 18 hectares at Annunziata di La Morra, one of the Barolo zone's most important hills, most of it Nebbiolo. Bricco Luciani grows on calcareous clay with south/east exposure. Matteo and Martina Molino, both Alba oenology graduates, work alongside their father with a focus on sustainability.
