Molly Dooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2022

Mollydooker is Aussie slang for a left-hander, which founders Sarah and Sparky Marquis both are, and Blue Eyed Boy is named for Sarah's son Luke. The 2022 pulls Shiraz from the estate's McLaren Vale vineyards, Coppermine Road and Gateway among them, plus a Langhorne Creek parcel, then goes barrel fermented and matured in all American oak, 55 percent new. Wine Spectator gave it 92 points. Full-throttle Aussie Shiraz done with real polish. Bring an appetite.

Deep purple. Blueberry, fresh plum, blackberry compote and mocha cream. Lush, generous layers with aniseed spice, plush gentle tannins and a long creamy chocolate finish.

Pepper-crusted ribeye, barbecue brisket, or a burger that means it. Dark chocolate after.

Fruit for 2022 came from the Coppermine Road, Gateway, Long Gully Road and Mollydooker Home vineyards in McLaren Vale plus the Joppich vineyard in Langhorne Creek. Barrel fermented, matured in 55 percent new and 45 percent one-year American oak.
