Molly Dooker Maitre Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 750ml

Mollydooker is one of McLaren Vale's best-known names, famous for reds that pour deep purple and drink plush. The Maitre D' is their Cabernet Sauvignon: barrel fermented, then matured in 89 percent American and 11 percent French oak, about a third of it new. Wine Spectator gave the 2022 a 90. Big fruit sweetness balanced against cigar box and mocha. This is the Cab for people who want their glass to hug back.

Deep red-purple. Cherry and blackberry slide into licorice, cigar box, and mocha, with jammy raspberry, a touch of mint and eucalyptus, and white pepper lingering. Fruit-sweet, balanced finish.

Ribeye off the grill, braised short ribs, anything that came out of a smoker.

Barrel fermented and matured in 89 percent American and 11 percent French oak: 34 percent new, 53 percent one-year-old, 13 percent two-year-old barrels, per the producer.
