Morlet Family Vineyards makes Napa-caliber Cabernet just over the county line in Sonoma's Knights Valley, and Mon Chevalier is the proof. The 2019 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot from the family's estate in one of California's great recent vintages. Big, warm and generous, all black fruit and graphite. Serious cellar Cabernet most people have not discovered yet, which is exactly why we stock it.

Cassis, blackberry and kirsch with graphite, wet river rock, licorice, blond tobacco and lavender. Full and supple with ripe tannins, dark chocolate and cedar on a warm finish.

Classic matches for Cabernet Sauvignon: Ribeye off the grill, lamb chops, aged cheddar, a rainy night and a good movie.

The blend runs roughly 86 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot from Morlet's Knights Valley estate, farmed by Champagne-born winemaker Luc Morlet's family.
