Nomade Petit Verdot - 2018 750ml
$40.99
Nómade is Tomás Achával's vineyard-hunting label. He travels the Andes foothills scouting old parcels for their site, vine age and farming, then bottles them under one name. The Colección Petit Verdot is 100% Petit Verdot from Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley, 1,230 meters up, aged 18 months in second-use French oak. Petit Verdot plays a bit part in Bordeaux. Mountain sun ripens it fully here. Inky, floral, structured. The bottle for Malbec drinkers ready to wander.
Deep, dark color. Violet and lavender florals over blackberry, blueberry and ripe plum. Dry and full-bodied with high tannin, medium-plus acidity and a long dark-fruit finish.
Skirt steak with chimichurri, braised short ribs, aged Manchego.
Achával buys fruit rather than owning land, selecting parcels across the Andes foothills for location, vine age and working practices. Los Chacayes is a high-elevation pocket of Mendoza's Uco Valley at 1,230 meters.
