Overture is Opus One's second wine, made since 1993 from estate lots that carry the same Mondavi-Rothschild pedigree in a bottle you can open tonight. Recent releases are now vintage-dated, and this 2022 is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and a splash of Malbec, all from the Oakville estate vineyards. Bright cherry and forest berries, violets, a silky palate built for the table rather than the cellar. The easiest way into one of Napa's most famous addresses.

Bright cherry, fresh forest berries, cut rose stems, violets, toasted almond and anise. Blackberry, blueberry and wild cherry on a silky, supple palate with lively acidity, fine tannins and a persistent savory finish.

Burgers done properly, grilled lamb chops, or a weeknight steak that deserves better than what you were going to open.

All fruit comes from the Opus One estate vineyards in Oakville, the joint venture founded by Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The 2022 blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec.
