Our Lady of Guadalupe - Pinot Noir - 2021

Our Lady of Guadalupe is Dave Phinney's Pinot Noir project on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills, and 2021 is the first vintage off the vineyard he planted for exactly this. It is 100% Pinot Noir, aged 13 months in French oak, 54% new. Antonio Galloni gave it 93 points and called it opulent and juicy, very much in Phinney's style. Santa Barbara Pinot with flesh and flash. For the Pinot drinker who likes a little more of everything.
Black cherry, hibiscus, rose petal, strawberry and baking spice. Soft, textured entry with framboise and pomegranate, ripples of acidity and a piquant, amaro-tinged finish.
Duck breast, grilled salmon, or mushroom pappardelle. It has the body for heartier plates than most Pinot.
Dave Phinney planted this vineyard on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills to make single-vineyard Pinot Noir under his OLG label, starting with this inaugural 2021. Aging ran 13 months in 54% new French oak.
