Ivo Pages makes wine the way most people take vacations, by falling for a place and staying. He's based in Cadaques on Catalonia's coast and works with local growers across Costers del Segre, a region still recovering its identity after phylloxera wiped out its old vines. Pirata is his flagship red line, a Mediterranean blend built on Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, and Monastrell. Capitan is the 2020 vintage of that bottling, red fruit and spice for anyone who wants Spain without the usual Rioja detour.

Deep, almost opaque red. Red fruit and baking spice framed by oak, structured tannins softened by real freshness. Finishes long, warm, and a touch rustic.

Good with chorizo, grilled lamb skewers, or a hard sheep's cheese like Manchego.

Ivo Pages spent years working vintages in Bordeaux and Burgundy before returning to his home region of Catalonia. He now selects parcels and vinifies with partner growers across Costers del Segre, the first Catalan DO to permit international grape varieties after phylloxera forced growers to replant.
