Renato Ratti Doc Langhe Nebbiolo

$30.00

Renato Ratti drew the first modern map of Barolo's crus in the 1970s, and the La Morra house that carries his name still makes some of the region's most polished Nebbiolo. Ochetti is the family's Langhe Nebbiolo: 100% Nebbiolo off sandy soils, handpicked in October, fermented in steel with about ten days on the skins. The 2023 is wild strawberry and fresh flowers with real cut. Barolo perfume without the Barolo price or the twenty-year wait.

Wild strawberry, fresh flowers, dusty earth, and dried herbs, then ripe Marasca cherry and blood orange. Bright translucent red, refreshing acidity, fine polished tannins, and a citrus-tinged finish.

Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.

Fruit grows on sandy soil and is handpicked in October, destemmed, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel with roughly ten days of skin contact. Malolactic happens in steel to keep the fruit bright. Drinks well over the next four to five years.
