Roederer Estate Brut Sparkling Wine
$45.00
California's answer to the house's own Champagne, made the same way. Louis Roederer planted vines in Mendocino's cool Anderson Valley in the 1980s to make sparkling wine by the traditional method, and Roederer Estate Brut is the result: a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, aged a minimum of two years on the yeast before release. It's the house's flagship non-vintage, dry and precise, and one of the better values in serious American sparkling wine. Green apple, citrus and fresh-baked bread on the nose, with pear, spice and a touch of hazelnut on the palate. Fine, persistent bubbles and a crisp, clean finish.
Classic matches for a sparkling like this: Oysters, fried foods, salty snacks — bubbles cut through everything.
