Sallier De Latour - Inzolia - 2021

Sallier de la Tour is Tasca d'Almerita's estate in Monreale, just outside Palermo, a project tracing back to the Sallier de la Tour family's arrival in Sicily in the 18th century and their 1956 marriage into the Tasca family. This Inzolia is Sicily's native white grape done simply and well, showing why the island's whites deserve more attention than they get. Bright and fresh, built for grilled fish or just sipping on a hot day.

Peach, melon, citrus and white flowers, with waxed lemon and a touch of jasmine and white tea. Crisp and bright with hints of honey and stone, light-to-medium body, and a saline, spicy-citrus finish.

The Sallier de la Tour family arrived in Sicily from Piedmont in the 18th century and built their winery, La Monaca, in 1909. In 1956 Paolo Sallier de la Tour married Costanza Tasca d'Almerita, linking the two families; since 2008 the Tasca d'Almerita family has run the Monreale estate, a few kilometers from Palermo.
