The crab-label classic from Portugal's green northwest. Loureiro and Pederna grown in granite soils, bottled young with the region's trademark whisper of spritz, and priced like the everyday pleasure it is. Vinho Verde is what half this shop drinks at home in July, and Santola is why: cold, bright, faintly fizzy, gone before the ice melts. The crab on the label tells you exactly what to serve with it.

Pale citrus in the glass; orange blossom and jasmine on the nose; pear and pink grapefruit on a crisp, faintly off-dry palate.

Eighteen bucks of pure porch wine. Chill it hard and open it with anything that once lived in the ocean.
