Saverio Faro is the label of Progetti Agricoli, one of Sicily's oldest and biggest growing cooperatives, founded in 1962 with vineyards along the island's southwest coast. This Nero d'Avola is farmed under organic and VIVA sustainability protocols, and the coastal sites give it a saline lift you don't always get from inland Sicilian reds. Easy price, real character. Pour it with anything involving lamb, aged pecorino, or a red-sauce Sicilian classic like pasta alla norma.

Deep ruby red. Pomegranate and black currant on the nose, soft and velvety on the palate with forest-fruit flavors and a hit of black pepper on the finish. Thirteen percent alcohol keeps it light on its feet.
