The Shiffletts have owned this 120-acre ranch at the end of Darms Lane since 1942, selling grapes to Raymond, Duckhorn and Darioush long before the five siblings finally put the family name on a label. The 2019 is 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon from the ranch's A4 block, clones 7 and 337, and just 150 cases were made. Estate Napa Cab with a real farm and real people behind it. Pour it when the story matters as much as the wine.

Savory red plum, Bing cherry, wild blackberry, lilac and crushed gravel. Spiced red fruit, wild bay, cocoa powder and currant on an energetic palate. Bright acidity, fine-grained tannins, polished finish.

The ranch runs from the Napa Valley floor into the Mayacamas foothills southwest of Yountville, with about 52 acres of vines on volcanic hillside and alluvial soils. The family planted its first vines in 1982 and still hosts ranch visits personally.
