The Novak family has made wine at Spottswoode since 1972, on a St. Helena estate dating to 1882 with a certified-organic vineyard. Lyndenhurst is the house's more approachable Cabernet, named for the linden trees blooming in the estate gardens. The 2020 blends 76% Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot from the estate and family-owned grower vineyards across Napa, aged 21 months in French oak. Estate pedigree without the estate price. Open now or hold a decade.
Floral top notes over black currant, dark cherry coulis, cigar box and allspice. Medium to full-bodied, soft fine-grained tannins, velvety texture, persistent finish. Best 2028 through 2038.
