Trespass Encroachment Pinot Noir 2018 750ml

$119.00

Here is a wine with a backstory. Encroachment was four friends, among them Donny Gallagher of St. Helena's Trespass Vineyard, crossing the county line for Sonoma Pinot with Kirk Venge making the wine. The 2018 draws 61% from the Dutton family's 40-year-old Widdoes Vineyard and 29% from the legendary Bacigalupi, aged 15 months in all new French oak. Only four vintages exist, 2016 through 2019. The label is gone. The wine, for now, is not.

Strawberry, ripe cherry and hibiscus aromas. The palate is plush and velvety with dark fruit depth, ginger and a flick of minty herbs, bright acidity holding everything in line.

Classic matches for a red like this: Grilled and roasted meats, hearty pastas, aged cheeses.

A Napa project in Sonoma clothing. The Trespass Vineyard crowd from St. Helena sourced Russian River Valley fruit from the Duttons' Widdoes Vineyard and Bacigalupi, with Kirk Venge of Venge Vineyards as winemaker. Bottled unfiltered and unfined, only a few hundred cases.
